About me
Dr. Sheridan has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, including over 15 years as a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She is board certified as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for adults/adolescents and pediatrics through the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) and has practiced across diverse clinical settings, with expertise in evidence collection, injury documentation, and trauma-responsive medical care.
She currently serves as Program Director for the Southeastern Alliance for Forensic Excellence (SAFE) Network, a HRSA-funded training program focused on expanding access to high-quality forensic care. Dr. Sheridan’s work is centered on educating and empowering nurses and clinicians to deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed care to all survivors of violence. She previously served as a Director-at-Large on the IAFN Board of Directors, and has led national initiatives including coordination of the National Elder Abuse Curriculum for Nurses and updates to the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner education curriculum.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Sheridan was a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University and served as the founding Forensic Nurse Examiner Program Coordinator at Baylor Scott & White Health in College Station, Texas.
