Liana Hill is the Forensic Nurse Examiner Program Director for Crisis Services of North Alabama and the Forensic Nurse Examiner for the Cullman County Child Advocacy Center, Brooks Place, where she provides direct medico-legal care to victims of sexual and interpersonal violence. She founded Alabama’s first Domestic Violence Nurse Examiner program in 2004 and has led the expansion of services to include child physical abuse, non-fatal strangulation, elder abuse, and suspect examinations. Trained in the United Kingdom as a Registered Nurse and Registered Sick Children’s Nurse, she holds U.S. degrees in Health Studies and Forensic Science and Criminal Studies and is one of only six nurses in Alabama dual-certified as SANE-A and SANE-P. A nationally recognized educator, her program was the first in the nation to receive IAFN approval for SANE-A, SANE-P, combined didactic courses, and skills labs; she is a former President of the Alabama Chapter of IAFN, a former IAFN Director-at-Large, a current board member of the Alabama Coalition Against Rape, and a frequent national and international presenter.
