Most ear complaints in the ED are straightforward—but occasionally, a seemingly routine presentation masks a far more serious diagnosis. Through a compelling real-world case, this session will examine how subtle changes in clinical presentation, failure to improve with appropriate treatment, and evolving neurologic findings can signal high-risk otologic pathology. You'll strengthen your ability to recognize diagnostic red flags, avoid anchoring bias, determine when advanced imaging is warranted, and confidently escalate care when a common complaint becomes anything but routine.
